Here I am, at Age 14, Bagging groceries at @starmarkets in Newton, MA circa 2002.
It all started at age 13, when I took the necessary steps to learn how I could start working and what steps needed to be taken in order to work legally as an Adult. The process included filling out applications, getting a workers permit, applying, interviewing, orientation, training, etc.
It was a HUGE step up in my life to be able to accomplish all this.
I mean, just look at that dorky smile 😀
On the job, I found mentors – in particular I was blessed to find ones who saw that I cared about my professional development. They provided guidance and support, and they helped me learn the best practices.
This was also where I learned the importance of SAVING a high percentage of earned income. Tough to think about it, but I started at $5.25/hour and 14/15 hours a week. By age 16 in 2004 I was working 36 hours a week at $8.25/hour. And all while going to High School full time – I even graduated a year early because I voluntarily took summer school classes to get extra credit.
Setting aside a large amount of the money that I earned played a huge role in setting me up for the real estate success I would be able to experience in my early 20s. I learned the importance of showing up early, being eager and willing to do what others weren’t interested in, and the importance of learning new skills to advance and grow.
It was a hop, skip, and a jump to transition from the supermarket to working in Retail Banking at @bankofamerica and @citizensbank for 18 months respectively, before becoming a Financial Advisor at age 21 in 2009. At the age of 21, without a college degree, I had 3 years of banking experience, 5 years of money handling experience, and 7 years of total work experience.
Now, more than 10 years later, after helping 1,000+ families with stronger and more efficient personal finances, and speaking on the international stage to 15,000 of the TOP Financial Advisors from around the world, I am very proud to share @90daymoneypro to show folks how 90 Days could CHANGE LIVES by getting their personal finances optimized.
